This week, DraftKings Reignmakers are offering prizes totaling $100,000 in two UFC 282 competitions: the CORE UFC 282 $50K Weigh-in and the RARE UFC 282 $50K Weigh-in.
To enter the CORE contest, players must select 5 fighters in any tier. One of them is her captain, and she gets 1.5x total fantasy points. To participate in a RARE Contest, a player must have at least 2 fighters of her RARE or higher tier, and 3 additional fighters of her any tier (including CORE), and the captain of the RARE tier. You have to choose by choosing.

RARE Tier Best Plays
Below are the best fighters to consider in the RARE tier, given their advantages in upcoming UFC 282 events, their long-term advantages in 2023 events, and their current prices.
Cameron Syman ($79)
Cameron Saaiman is currently the -425 betting favorite against Steven Koslow, who is making his UFC debut after an undefeated professional career at Combat Night Pro. Saaiman is also undefeated after his success at the EFC. He won his series against Dana his White contender earlier this year, and UFC president White called Cyman “the future.” His price is lower than Edmen Shahbazyan, who is at least one of the more popular fighters on the UFC 282 card, but a coin flip to end this fight early by (T)KO is. His possible Saaiman captain lineup in RARE contests is only his 75 as RARE fighters are required to play in the captain position. This is far better than his 200+ buildable line-ups of Paddy Pimblett or Magomed Ankalaev. Paying Saiman to use him as captain has a contrarian advantage.
Jan Blachowicz ($20)
Jan Blachowicz could lose the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship to Magomed Ankaraev this weekend. Ankalaev is the better aggressive striker, but Blachowicz still has a chance. However, even if he loses, his price is too low for the expected value in future events. All player cards are usable throughout his 2023 season and Blachowicz is one of his top fighters in the division. Ignore the UFC 282 hype and keep him hidden for a 2023 win streak. This could give us another title opportunity by the end of next year.

Best CORE Tier play
Below are the best fighters to consider in the core tier, given their advantages in upcoming UFC 282 events, their long-term advantages in 2023 events, and their current prices.
TJ Brown ($7)
DraftKings Reignmakers is nothing like Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) specifically for the UFC. DFS players usually have to pick underdogs in UFC events due to salary restrictions on his cap. At Reignmakers, the only salary cap constraint is that he buys NFTs in the market. Still, players should optimize for maximum “cost-effectiveness”. That’s TJ Brown this weekend. He is $7 on his CORE tier and has a good high upside matchup against Erik Silva. He is now -111 for Silva to -109 and the fight ends within range at -170. Silva is $15 and shows that he will be a more popular pick, but Brown has the ability to upset and CORE he is a good contrarian play in the contest.
Joaquin Buckley ($14)
Joaquin Buckley will take on Chris Curtis in another high upside play at UFC 282 this weekend. Curtis recently lost to Jack Hermansson by decision in the third round, but it’s not uncommon for him to lose 38 fights professionally. Dana White is feeding him to the wolves again Buckley has won three of his last four fights, two of which he has won by (T)KO. He struggles when challenged by top-tier fighters, but should easily get past Curtis this weekend and finish in the second or third round. At $14, his advantage is there. Buckley also said that in 2022 he will fight four times after this match, which is a good sign for his 2023 turnaround.
Vinicius Salvador ($31)
Vinicius Salvador is one of the most expensive fighters available on the upcoming UFC 282 card, and for good reason. Salvador is his favorite betting at -250 and finishes within distance at odds of -165. Daniel da his Silva is likely to leave the UFC after this fight following his three straight losses in 2021 and his 2022. Salvador, on the other hand, has only fought once officially in the UFC, winning by second round (T) KO. He is a high-powered fighter scoring 8.43 strikes per minute, complete takedowns his defense. He is probably the best fit to be included in his Reignmakers lineup.
